CLUB PROFILE GUIDE
Please fill out the CLUB PROFILE FORM before you upload any files
What can I record on?
You can record on any audio recorder that will save the audio in a digital format. There are many differant products available, we suggest using the recorder on your mobile phone, but by all means, if you have the gear, use it
What file format do I use?
Simple answer is what ever you want. We would prefer .mp3 file format, as this is what we will use on the site. But we can handle pretty much any major format, .wav, .aiff, .aac and more. We can even extract audio from video if things get desperate  We don't like .ogg files though. Try and stay away from them if you can.
What do I call my files?
We prefer any audio you upload to include your club name and the word profile. If that is a bit to hard then send us an email with the name of the file and which club it is from. If your club has a particulary long name you can nominate a short name on the CLUB PROFILE FORM  and use that.
We use dropbox for our file transfers. You will find a link on the CONTRIBUTE page to upload your files. Anything uploaded is private and can only been seen by us here at The Reverse Stick
How do I send you my files?
What files can I send?
We have set up Drobbox mainly to handle larger size files such as video and audio. If you have a club song recorded we would love to post that. You can also send photos. Anything really that you think your club should share with the world. For smaller files, such as word documents or pdf files send an email attachment to admin@thereversestick.net
Definately. Your club profile will be  freely available to download from the website at any time. You can post it on your website if you like, send links to members or sponsors or anyone you want to impress. The only thing you can't do is sell it.
Can I have a copy?
What language do you use?
The Reverse Stick podcast is in English, at least at this stage. So we would need your submission to be in English. That is not to say you can't include some local colour. In some parts of the Hockey Globe there is more than one language spoken, sometimes several. If that is part of the makeup of your club by all means include some of it.
If you have anymore questions please send us an email admin@thereversestick.net
Profile Rundown
The following is a rundown of the sort of information we are after to build your club profile. But it is just a guide to get started. We would encourage you to include anything that you think is relevant to tell your clubs story.
Section 1: Club Introduction (Record Guide Time: 20 secs – 1 min)

- What is the name of your club?
- Who are you (interviewee) and what is your role at your club?
- When was your club formed?
- What are your club colours and crest/logo?
- Where is your club based?
- How long have you been at your current club home?

Eg. “My name is John Smith and I am the President at Sydney Hockey Club. We are based in the western suburbs of Sydney, Australia. We were formed in 1948 and have called Richardson Park home since our club’s inception. Our club colours are yellow and green and we are known throughout the local competition as the ‘Canaries’, with an angry Canary sitting proudly in the centre of our club crest.”

Sectiion 2: Club Membership,Participationand Facilities (Record Guide Time: 20 secs - 1 min)

- Geographically where do your members come from
- What is the make up of your member base? (ie, Uni Students, are you in a rural area with lots of farmers, etc)
- Tell us about your club facilities?
- How many teams/players do you have?
- What is the gender, age, ability split of your players?
- What leagues do your teams play in?
- I’m moving to your town/city, why should I join your club?

eg. “We are situated close to a University and share our turf facilities with them, so naturally we have very strong student participation alongside a wide range of players from nearby suburbs. We currently run 5 men’s, 4 women’s and a Veterans team in the Macarthur Hockey Association, offering a high standard in our Premier league teams through to a more social level down the grades. We also have a small junior section running the Hook in2
Hockey program. We love to welcome new players to the club, so if you are moving to
Western Sydney then you’ll find some friendly faces with the Canaries!”

Section 3: Club History & Culture (Record Guide Time: 45 secs – 2 min)

- What does it mean to play for your club?
- Do you have a club motto or club song?
- Tell us about your club culture.
- Is there anything unique about your club?
- Tell us about your club successes?
- How is your club viewed by opposing clubs?
- Tell us about the social side of your club.
- Do any of your current or former players have representative honours?
- Do you have any funny stories or characters from your club that you want to tell us about? See Hockey Heroes for more on this

Eg. “We are proud to be one of the founder clubs of the local association, winning the top grade title for the first 3 years, we then repeated that success 10 years later with the formation of the Women’s side of the club. Over the years we have had mixed success at the top level, our Women’s 1’s most recently won the flag in 2012, whilst we need to look back
to 1998 when our Men’s 1’s last won a grand final. Despite that we are always in the mix come finals time and offer our opponents a hard fought contest every time. We currently have good representation in the New South Wales U21 State teams for both Men and Women and there are three current Hockeyroos that have spent time at our club. When we win, we sing our club victory song, the Canary Call, which new members learn quite rapidly and is often heard at our legendary Saturday night club events.”

- What is your most successful fundraising initiative?
- Where do you see your club in 10 years?
- What are your hopes and aspirations for your club?
- Would you like to thank any of your sponsors?

Eg. “Fundraising is probably the biggest challenge we face, largely due to the high number of students in our membership. We try to keep our subscription fees as low as possible and Bar income is our main source of funds, but we do also rely on generous sponsorship from the Atlas Bank, without their annual donation it would be very hard to keep the club afloat.

The amount of teams we field has stayed steady over the past 20 or so years, so we hope that continues going forward. We generally have a steady flow of new players each year with the new university intake, but naturally lose some after they graduate, it remains pretty
stable for us. We have been putting major focus in to our coaching methods and are starting to see the benefits across the club, it won’t be too long until we are back in the winners circle!”

Section 4: Additional Information

- Do you have any additional audio that you would like to provide? (ie, Club song recording; Crowd noise)

- Please record (as an individual or as a group) “We are <your club name> and you are listening to The Reverse Stick”

- We also want you to send us any club logos as well as photographs of your club. Especially photo's that show your facilities or the view to or      from your club so we can get a feel of  'where' you play. We are not specifically seeking video's but you can send them anyway If you like

- If you have a great story to tell about a Hockey Heroes at your club then we would be keen to get in touch and arrange a separate profile piece.

Remember that this is just a guide. It's your clubs story so you should tell it.
