  Germany Announces Coaching Panels

The German Hockey Federation (DHB) has announced a revamped coaching line-up, appointing Stefan Kermas as Senior Men’s coach. He will be joined by Russell Garcia, the former Olympian having coached Scotland’s men and worked as Assistant Coach to the Dutch men. Aditya Pasarakonda, former Swiss national team coach, will join Garcia as assistants to Kermas. Jimmy Lewis, the former Great Britain goalkeeper, will act as Goalkeeper Coach to both the men’s and woman’s programs.

Kermas joins Jamilon Mülders, who will coach the women’s senior side. Valentin Altenburg and Akim Bouchouchi have been named as junior men’s and women’s coach respectively. A wealth of experience will be sitting on the bench with Mülders as he is joined by former German international Matthew Hetherington and 300 game Belgian national player Xavier Reckinger.

The appointments finalize the coaching panels for the German national teams as they begin working through another Olympic cycle. Hopes are high among
German officials that 37 year old Kermas can continue Germany’s dominance at recent Olympic games, with the men finishing with at bronze at the recent Rio games following gold at the two previous games. The German women last won gold at the 2004 Athens games and will be desperate to improve there bronze medal position in Rio
