FIH Announce Change to Integrity Policy

The FIH has announced it will introduce a new Integrity Code in 2017 that will combine a new Code of Ethics with updated Anti-Corruption Regulations, incorporating the Olympic Movement Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions.
This follows the attendance of an FIH delegation, led by new CEO Jason McCracken, at the second edition of the IOC’s International Forum for Sports Integrity (IFSI), held in Lausanne in February. The meeting focused on future actions on two main strands: strengthening the prevention of the manipulation of competitions and supporting ethical conduct and anti-corruption.
The event gathered representatives from governments, UN agencies, the Council of Europe, the European Union, INTERPOL, Europol, sports betting operators, national regulating authorities, Olympic Movement stakeholders and other experts to collaborate on the protection of clean sport. The outcome of the Forum is brought together in a Declaration which is fully supported by FIH. Amongst other commitments, it outlines the establishment of an Olympic Movement Unit on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions and the launch of an International Sports Integrity Partnership.
The FIH has stated it has a “strong stance on both hockey’s integrity and governance and is continuously developing important measures in this regard”. The new Code, which will be fully in-line with new IOC requirements, and was presented to all hockey stakeholders during Congress last November
The Code will cover areas such as conflicts of interest; confidentiality; integrity (including bribery, match-related integrity and betting); elections; and bidding for events. It also foresees the creation of a FIH Integrity Unit, composed of independent experts. All FIH members will be provided with a template integrity code to ensure full compliance at an international, continental and national level.
